Gallery Shop Manager

The purpose of our Gallery Shop is to increase public awareness of quality crafts. The overall function of the Gallery/Shop Manager is to ensure the smooth functioning of the shop and our online Etsy store, WesleyanPottersCT on both a daily and long-term basis. The Gallery/Shop Manager reports to and works with the Executive Director, Executive committee, Gallery/shop committee, and online sales committee.

Included in the duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Inventory Control
  • Sales in the gallery and in online Etsy shop
  • Correspondence with members + outside craftspeople
  • Issue payments to consignment artists
  • Coordinates Etsy postings, sales, and shipments
  • Shop Upkeep
  • Special Exhibits
  • Help during Annual Sale


  • Prior retail experience preferably in a management role
  • 1-2 yrs visual merchandising experience
  • Knowledge of crafts including pottery, weaving, and metalwork
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs
  • Social media posting experience
  • Experience as an Etsy store manager a plus
  • Knowledge of inventory management and register transactions
  • Familiarity with the planning, organization of, and display of Gallery shows
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent people skills including HR-related tasks
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Detail-oriented


  • After 6 month review, vacation and sick/personal days
