The first time I saw a loom was when I attended a basket weaving class in the loom room at Wesleyan Potters. There in front of me were these “interesting” floor looms. I immediately wanted to learn how to use one.

I am very inspired by color and design. For instance, my favorite design is “overshot.” It’s a simple (4-shaft) plan but the design is beautiful. I also love dishtowels, perhaps because they are a basic project that can be combined with many patterns. Color is important to me also. Reds, blues, and white seem to capture my attention more than other colors right now. I enjoy seeing the development of the pattern when the colors meet the intended design. Melding colors with a pattern in stripes or diamonds, generates a feeling of fulfillment for me.
