My love of pottery began when I was introduced to it in an Art class in high school. With encouragement from my teacher, I was given an opportunity to place two pieces on exhibit at Conn College in New London. Then and now, working with a piece of clay to create something of beauty remains quite thrilling. I particularly enjoy building with slabs or coils of clay because no two pieces will ever be alike. The connection we all have to the earth and past civilizations is so evident in pottery. Whenever I see ancient pottery, I am humbled. It makes me wonder if future civilizations will be as moved by our work as I have been by those of the past.
