Jean Rill-Alberto

Mixed Media, Fiber Arts

I am a mixed-media fiber artist and greeting card designer by trade. I was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.  My mother was a seamstress, so I grew up surrounded by fabric, threads, and sewing tools and she taught me pretty much everything she knew about them.

I began stitching and painting at a very early age and it is still my passion today. I studied graphic art and design at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League, both in NYC.

The way I approach my work as a textile artist is with self-confidence. I love what I do and I am very proud of my work and artistic expression.

I create my pieces with what inspires me at that moment. I take a modern approach to all of my abstract and geometric compositions, and they are appealing to most from a design perspective.

Using form, rhythm, and visual language, I combine the elements to create a composition on paper with a mood all its own.

I stitch, paint and design every day in my studio, completing several different projects at once and am always excited to start something new. Every piece is a true reflection of my thoughts and feelings at the time in every medium I work in.

It is a healing journey for me and I am forever grateful for my talent.

It is my form of meditation and my sanctuary. I am happiest when in my studio creating new works of art. It lifts my soul, opens my heart, and brings me to a place of solace.

I hope my work will inspire you!
