Student Bench Times

Several studio hours, called bench times, are offered to students at no extra charge. This is time for them to independently practice their craft. There is no formal instruction, but studio monitors may be present.

We have returned to the bench time system we had pre-covid. Please read carefully so you understand what days you will have access to the studio.

POTTERY

Bench times for all students (including teen pottery): Tuesdays, Saturdays & Sundays 12:30 - 3:00 p.m.

You are allowed to go to any 2 out of the 3 offered days. You must sign in to bench time.

There will be unofficial bench times associated with PM1, PW1 and PTH1. If you are in one of these classes, you may go to the bench time following your class plus one additional separate day.

Saturdays & Sundays: Potters may stay one additional hour (3:00-4:00 p.m.) with a $5 cash donation to our Scholarship Fund.

Bench Time Etiquette: Please be mindful of fellow students. Clean as you go and only occupy one area at a time (wheel, hand-building table, glaze table). Seats at the general bench times can fill up fast. If all of the wheels are taken and you want to use one, please announce that to the group in a loud but polite manner. Someone may only need their wheel for a short while and can coordinate you taking their spot once they are done. Please and thank you always go a long way!
